Several ZNYX Networks CompactPCI networking products offer rear panel Input/Output for their Ethernet ports. This is accomplished by splitting the networking device into two sections: a front panel, Hot Swap module containing the active electronics, and a rear transition module (RTM) containing just passive components and the RJ-45 connectors. The two modules are interconnected within the chassis by jacks RJ3 and RJ5.

This allows Hot Swap replacement of the front module within seconds, without having to disconnect/reconnect the numerous Ethernet cables. Since ZNYX Networks RTMs contain only passive components, they have an MTBF approaching infinity, and are usually an "install-and-forget" component. In addition, rear panel I/O permits all wiring to be confined to the rear of an equipment rack.

CompactPCI RTMs are currently limited to the 6U size. ZNYX Networks RTMs ship with Type A connectors which are compatible with all industry standard rear panel CompactPCI slots. The Type AB connectors, with alignment pins, are available on special order. Contact sales@znyx.com for info.
