ZX8100 Hub Switch Features Non–Blocking 40G Performance for Up to 14 Slot Systems
High Density ZX9240 Compute Blade Delivers Line Rate Performance to Virtual Machines
FREMONT, Calif. – September 10, 2013 – ZNYX® Networks, an innovator of high density solution–enabled platforms for carrier–grade and mission critical environments, today unveiled the ZNYX ZX8100 AdvancedTCA® (ATCA) hub switch and ZX9240 compute blade server supporting 40G. Both platforms use the Intel® Xeon® processors paired with Intel® Communications Chipset 89XX series to acheive high performance and virtualization capabilities.
The ZX8100 is a highly integrated 40G hub switch with the Intel® Xeon® processor E3-1105C v2 paired with Intel Communications Chipset 89XX series for 14 slot solutions. With 674 Gbps of switching capacity, the ZX8100 delivers non-blocking 40G performance for up to 12 ATCA payload blades, and supports a variety of egress configurations. The ZX8100 offers an “out–of–the–box” virtual environment for system application management eliminating the need to be hosted on a compute blade.
The ZX9240 compute blade features the highest performance Intel® Xeon® E5-2600 v2 product family paired with the Intel Communications Chipset 89XX series, and supports up to 30MB L3 Cache per processor. Equipped with Intel® Virtualization Technology (VT) including VT–x and VT–d, the ZX9240 is able to accelerate virtual machine (VM) performance. With the largest memory footprint available in an ATCA compute blade, the ZX9240 facilitates highly scalable virtual environments for improved efficiency and lower infrastructure costs.

Integrated into both the ZX8100 and ZX9240, Intel® QuickAssist Technology assists with the performance demands of hardware acceleration encryption/decryption and other workloads such as compression/decompression.
ZX8100 Features and Benefits
The advanced ZX8100 hub switch supports the Intel Xeon processor E3-1105C v2 (4C/8T) at 1.8 GHz. A mid–size AMC site with support for PCIe x4 and dual 10G/40G connections are provided. Custom mezzanine configurations are possible for hosting FPGA or network processors for packet processing and traffic management with up to 80G of throughput supported.
Featuring two DDR3 DIMM sockets (8GB with ECC total memory standard, support for up to 16GB), the ZX8100 also offers an mSATA SSD (40GB standard, up to 512GB available), and Broadcom® Trident Plus 640G for the switch fabric. Virtualized interfaces for management of switch and system manager reduce management complexity. The ZX8100 also supports the Oracle® RTM specification, ensuring compatibility with a wide–range of RTMs from multiple vendors.
About ZNYX OpenArchitect 4 for ZX8100 Switch
Bundled at no additional fee, OpenArchitect® 4 (OA4) on ZNYX ATCA switches is an environment that provides both control plane management software and user VMs. The control plane management software, developed by ZNYX Networks, is a scalable management and Ethernet routing software platform that delivers comprehensive routing capabilities, L4–7 filtering and packet classification, plus Class–of–Service features.
OA4 also offers an extensible Linux API environment capable of supporting open–source, third–party or proprietary protocol stacks and routing applications. The OpenArchitect/HA option, a layered application for dual switch chassis, provides a high–speed, fault tolerant, end–to–end “IP transparent” failover solution for hot–swappable Ethernet–based payload blades on a switch–to–switch, VLAN–to–VLAN, or port–to–port basis.
The user VM capabilities of OA4 are a density innovation that enables application integrators to move middleware management software, previously running on SBCs in the chassis, to the switch card. This releases SBC compute resources to be used for revenue generating purposes.
ZX9240 Features and Benefits
The ZX9240 is a dual–socket compute blade that supports the complete Intel® Xeon® E5-2600 v2 product family. From a single Intel Xeon processor E5–2618L v2 (6C/12T) at 2.0 GHz for an entry–level cost–effective solution, up to dual Intel® Xeon® processor E5–2658 v2 (10C/20T) 2.4 GHz processors for high–end configurations, the ZX9240 is the ideal solution for a variety of demanding environments. The ZNYX compute blade operates within all 3.1 ATCA Ethernet backplanes including Dual Star, Full Mesh, and Dual Dual Star for up to 160Gbps backplane connectivity.
The 40G Ethernet interface of the ZX9240 supports SR–IOV (Single–Root I/O Virtualization), Packet Filtering, Packet Switching, and Packet Shaping. These features enable the throughput and efficient packet handling necessary to provide line rate performance to the VM. SR–IOV shares a single I/O resource between multiple VMs. The LLC (logical link control) hit rate relieves congestion on the memory sub–system, and frees up bandwidth for additional power savings.

Bundled at no additional fee, OpenArchitect® (OA4) provides customers a fully supported, pre–integrated Linux® distribution that has been fine–tuned for hosting large numbers of VMs. Driver level tuning wiht the latest Intel® technology achieves a new benchmark in packet distribution to VMs. OA4 is based on Ubuntu® LTS Linux® enabling ZNYX to offer long–term support for customers who require strict control of software deployments.
