ZNYX Delivers High Availability For LynxOS on Motorolas CompactPCI PowerPC® Platform
NetBlaster Fast Ethernet Adapters Provide High Reliability and Scaleable Performance
FREMONT, CALIFORNIA, USA (May 12, 1999) - ZNYX Corporation,
the leader in high availability networking solutions for Embedded and Telephony
applications, today announced the release of its LynxOS® drivers for the companys
NetBlaster CompactPCI and PCI multi-channel Fast Ethernet adapter product
lines. The drivers support LynxOS version 3.01 for both PowerPC® and
Intel® Pentium® processor - based platforms. The first PowerPC platform supported is the Motorola
Computer Group (MCG) MCP750 CompactPCI single board computer. Embedded in
the LynxOS driver is ZNYXs RAINlink technology that provides redundant
links with fast failover, system-to-switch, and system-to-system trunking.
RAINlink Delivers Fast Failover and Incremental Bandwidth
RAINlink provides fast deterministic failover by placing
the secondary Ethernet channel in a hot standby state. When a failure is detected
on the primary port, RAINlink redirects traffic to the secondary port which
has already been initialized with the primary ports MAC address.
The failover sequence occurs within milliseconds, and Internet Protocol connections
are maintained during the failover transition. Both port-to-port and
board-to-board failover mechanisms are supported. RAINlinks system-to-switch
trunking can be used to connect to Cisco® Fast EtherChannel-compatible switches.
RAINlinks trunking capability can provide scalable, incremental bandwidth
between 100 and 400 Mbps. In addition, system-to-system trunking provides
the same capability by providing a multi-channel trunk between two or more
LynxOS platforms.
With the inclusion of embedded RAINlink in our LynxOS
driver, ZNYX is providing scaleable and reliable networking capability for
a number of applications including wireless, Voice over IP (VoIP), and Advanced
Intelligent Networking (AIN), said Tim Hayes, product marketing manager
at ZNYX Corporation. RAINlinks fast deterministic failover
capability maintains connections during LAN failures. Fault detection,
fault isolation, and automatic failover are essential to the next generation
of telco platforms. RAINlink addresses these needs at the LAN interface
which is used to build distributed computing solutions in the Central Office.
High Availability is Crucial for Next Generation Telephony Platforms
"Our major telecommunications customers are turning
to the flexibility, scalability and open architecture of LynxOS as the software
foundation for their next-generation products, using commercial off-the-shelf
technology building blocks." said Inder Singh, chairman and CEO of Lynx."
ZNYX's RAINlink provides a powerful networking platform for those customers
looking to exploit high reliability and availability of LynxOS for addressing
the convergence of voice, data and video."
"High Availability features are essential to our customers
building the next generation telephony platforms. MCG's MCP750 running RAINlink
for LynxOS is a hot combination for adding further HA feature sets to our
Datacom & Telecom platform offerings" said Cousy Maher, director
of business management, telecom business unit, MCG. He added, "ZNYX's
RAINlink extends high availability to the LAN where it is critical for applications
built around a distributed computing environment. The partnership of MCG,
Lynx, and ZNYX is ideal for high availability communications solutions."
NetBlaster adapters are available for both PCI and CompactPCI
systems. NetBlaster CompactPCI is available in two, four, and eight channel
models supporting 3U and 6U slots, Hot Swap and front or rear panel I/O. Prices
for the NetBlaster CompactPCI series range from $699 to $2699. The NetBlaster
PCI series support one, two, and four channel models. Pricing ranges from
$99 to $699. Additional product information including drivers for the NetBlaster
adapters, are available from ZNYXs website.
