ZNYX Releases Industry’s First CompactPCI Hot Swap Ethernet Adapters
NetBlaster Multi-Channel Fast Ethernet Adapters Provide High Availability, Hot Swap, and Front or Rear Panel I/O
FREMONT, CALIFORNIA, USA (Mar 2, 1999) - ZNYX Corporation, a pioneer in providing high availability networking solutions for Embedded and Telephony applications, today announced the release of a family of PICMG compliant CompactPCI Hot Swap Fast Ethernet Adapters. The product family addresses a range of platforms including 3U and 6U form factors with choices of front or rear panel I/O. The adapters include PICMG 2.1 compliant Hot Swap circuitry and a 64 bit bus interface. The boards are designed for high availability data and telecommunication platforms that support data intensive applications such as Voice over IP (VoIP), community messaging, Advanced Intelligent Networking (AIN) services, firewalls, access products and web servers. Two separate series of NetBlaster™ adapters, the ZX470 series and the ZX440 provide ZNYX’s customers with the choice of 3U, 6U, and front or rear panel I/O.
The ZX470 series is a Carrier Class Hot Swap adapter for Central Office applications. This adapter supports four-channel and eight-channel configurations and utilizes a passive rear transition module that supports cable connections out the back of a CompactPCI system. The combination of Hot Swap and rear panel I/O allows the adapter to be swapped without disturbing the cabling. The ZX440 series supports both 3U and 6U form factors with front panel I/O and in two or four channel configurations.
The NetBlaster ZX470 and ZX440 series are both supported by ZNYX’s embedded RAINlink technology that provides support for redundancy with fast deterministic failover, system-to-system trunking, and system-to-switch trunking. ZNYX also provides a comprehensive driver suite that includes support for Windows NT, Solaris, VxWorks, pSOS+, LynxOS, UnixWare, QNX, and Linux.
The ZX470 with RAINlink-enabled drivers allow for the construction of high availability LANs to interconnect CompactPCI systems in telephone company Central Offices and Customer Premises applications.
"The ZX440 and ZX470 adapters extend the high availability equation to the LAN," said Tim Hayes, Product Marketing Manager at ZNYX Corporation. "Applications inside and outside phone company Central Offices can rely on these adapters for high availability and run-time serviceability. Many of the telephony applications such as Voice over IP and community messaging use LANs to provide a service that must be continuously available. Our goal is to provide this level of availability by executing failover sequences that are fast, deterministic, and completely transparent to end-users of Voice over IP and messaging services."
The ZX470 NetBlaster series is available in four (ZX474) or eight (ZX478) channel models. Prices range from $2,199 to $2,699. The ZX440 NetBlaster series is available in two (ZX442) or four (ZX444) channel models. Prices range from $1,249 to $1,999. Drivers are downloadable from ZNYX’s web site at http://www.znyx.com.
